November 11, 2025 – Ottawa, ON: As we honour veterans and those currently serving our country this Remembrance Day, the Canadian Dental Association (CDA) also proudly acknowledges the vital contributions of the Royal Canadian Dental Corps (RCDC) in supporting our troops at home and abroad.

Since its establishment in 1915, RCDC has been ensuring the oral health of Canada’s military personnel. As our troops bravely served in conflicts like both World Wars, Korea, and Afghanistan, RCDC was there to ensure the troops’ health and welfare were supported.

“For more than a century, military and civilian personnel of the Royal Canadian Dental Corps, with support from the Canadian oral health care community, have been committed to promote and care for the health and operational readiness of Canada’s military personnel and allies, at home and abroad. As we pause on Remembrance Day to honour those who served and made the ultimate sacrifice, we also recognize – and are grateful to – the generations of oral health care professionals who have safeguarded or still play a role in safeguarding the well-being of our troops in this legacy of service,” says RCDC Chief Dental Officer, Col Geneviève Bussière, and RCDC CWO Manon Mailhot.

RCDC has also provided dental support and other assistance in humanitarian aid and disaster relief situations, as well as peacemaking and peacekeeping operations across the globe. CDA honours the many contributions of military dentists.

“The CDA has been closely connected with the RCDC for over a century, as both groups have worked together to help ensure the provision of the highest standard of dental care to civilian and serving Canadians,” says CDA President Dr. Bruce Ward. “The work that RCDC has done to support our troops is so important to reflect on each Remembrance Day.”
