November 10, 2023 – Ottawa, ON: As we approach this year's Remembrance Day, Canadian Dental Association (CDA) pays tribute to the enduring courage and sacrifice of our veterans and those who currently serve. Tomorrow, we will stand united with Canadians to take a moment to remember those we’ve lost, those who’ve served, and honour those who currently serve.
CDA and the Royal Canadian Dental Corps (RCDC) have worked closely together for over 100 years to promote optimal oral health to Canadians. Since 1915, Canada's military dental services have played a vital role in both World War I and World War II, as well as in Korea, Afghanistan, and various peacemaking, peacekeeping, humanitarian, and forensic operations. They have tended to the oral health needs of Canada's troops, both at home and abroad.
“The dental community stands by those who have served and are currently safeguarding our nation,” says CDA President, Dr. Heather Carr. “On behalf of the CDA, I want to express our appreciation for the sacrifices and risks our military personnel undertake. We also extend our gratitude to the devoted members of the RCDC, both in uniform and in civilian roles, for their unwavering commitment to the oral health of Canada's troops.”
On Remembrance Day, we come together not only as a dental community, but as a nation united to honour and respect those who have served and continue to serve Canada.
Lest we forget.
