CDA Represents Canada at Meeting of Chief Dental Officers of the Americas
April 30, 2004 — Ottawa — Health Canada asked CDA to represent Canada in Havana at the meeting of Chief Dental Officers of Latin America, the Caribbean and North America.
The Ministry of Public Health of Cuba and the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) organized the April 20-22 meeting in Cuba’s capital. Using the model of Primary Health Care (PHC) and the framework of the United Nations Millennium Goals, the 23 countries represented at this event developed strategies to address oral health problems in the Americas. Canada is one of the few countries in the Americas that does not have a Chief Dental Officer, a National Oral Health Strategy or up-to-date information on the oral health status of its citizens.

CDA is the authoritative national voice of dentistry, dedicated to the representation and advancement of the profession, nationally and internationally, and to the achievement of optimal oral health.
