CDA Raises Its Media Profile
March 21, 2003 - Ottawa - In May, CDA president Dr. Tom Breneman will appear in four episodes of The Body & Health Show dealing with oral health issues.
Segments featuring a Dentist on Call Q&A with Dr. Breneman will air nationally on Global and Prime on four consecutive Fridays (May 2, 9, 16 and 23). Airtimes vary by region, so check your local listings. The segments were taped at CHTV studios in Hamilton.
"The Body & Health Show clips with Dr. Breneman came about when a producer called about an oral health special she was doing," relates Beth Keeping, CDA's manager of media and government relations. "The producer wanted to do a story on the Manitoba outreach program, which she read about on CDA's Web site. I asked her if Body & Health needed any other dentist interviews. She suggested I contact another producer, which I did, and that call led to this excellent national coverage for CDA."
In February, Dr. Breneman was quoted extensively in a full-page Canadian Press story on teens' dental health that appeared in The Western Star (Corner Brook, NL), Halifax Herald, Barrie Examiner, London Free Press, Niagara Falls Review and Saskatoon Star-Phoenix. The story was headlined Teeth Appeal: The Teen Years Are Critical When It Comes to Good Dental Health - and a Perfect Smile.
Dr. Breneman was also quoted in a Chicago Tribune story entitled The Great White Hype: Examining a National Obsession with Teeth Bleaching, which appeared in the February 18 edition. The story was reprinted in the February 24 edition of The Ottawa Citizen and in other newspapers across North America.
