On November 6, Health Canada advised that Avmor Ltd. have recalled 20 lots of its Antimicrobial Foaming Hand Soap (Triclosan 0.3%) and 21 lots of its X3 Clean Alcohol-Free Foaming Hand Sanitizer (Benzalkonium chloride 0.13%) due to microbial contamination.
Product testing undertaken by Health Canada detected bacteria (Pseudomonas aeruginosa) that may pose serious health risks to people, especially those with weakened immune systems. No adverse reactions involving the use of these products have been reported to Health Canada.
