Dr. Harinder Sandhu of London, Ontario, has been awarded an American Dental Education Association (ADEA) fellowship—a first for Canadian faculty and administrators.
As part of the ADEA/Sunstar Americas, Inc./Harry W. Bruce, Jr. Legislative Fellowship, Dr. Sandhu will be working with the ADEA in Washington, D.C., for a 3-month period. He will focus on specific ADEA legislative priorities within the Advocacy and Governmental Relations office. The public policy fellowship is designed to “familiarize dental school faculty or administrators with the federal legislative process as it relates to dental education, dental research, and the oral health of the nation.”
Dr. Sandhu is currently vice-dean and director of dentistry at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University. He is also a JCDA reviewer and has previously served as president of the Association of Canadian Faculties of Dentistry.
The ADEA is the voice of dental education in the United States. Its members are responsible for determining best practices, promoting changes in dental education, and advocating for public policy matters crucial to dental educators and researchers.
