Upon his return to Canada, Dr. Lindsay worked as the editor of the Journal of the Ontario Dental Association for 15 years. In 1968, when the Ontario Dental Association awarded Dr. Lindsay a lifetime membership, part of the speech that honoured him read, “This is a man who never proclaims what he has done or will do or can do, but where need or duty is will take hold with courage, resolution, and rare power of mind. And then, without pretention, retire into the background, serene and satisfied because he did the thing that needed to be done, not for himself, but for the cause of good, for his associates, for his profession, and for the world in which he lives.” In 2001, the dental school that Dr. Lindsay founded merged with Sichuan University and became the West China School of Stomatology at Sichuan University. The school has been widely recognized as the cradle of modern dentistry in China and is considered one of the best dental schools in China. Its research programs and publications are respected internationally. In 2017, U of T Dentistry and West China College of Stomatology Sichuan University signed a Memoranda of Understanding for collaboration and knowledge sharing. Today, a bronze statue stands in a cobbled courtyard in front of the dental education museum building at the West China College of Stomatology. With a determined look, a noble nose, and his hair swept back, Dr. Lindsay wears a tie and long coat, with one hand casually in his pocket. Below, on the plaque, his name is written in both English and Chinese.
