O ral health is seeing renewed attention on the global health agenda. Back in May 2021, the WHO World Health Assembly requested in a resolution that theWHO, in consultation with member states, develop a draft global strategy on tackling oral diseases. The WHO member states recognized the global burden of oral diseases and urged stakeholders WHO Adopts Global Strategy on Oral Health The World Health Organization’s (WHO) World Health Assembly unanimously approved the first-ever Global Strategy on Oral Health on May 27, 2022. to address key risk factors of oral diseases, and to focus on innovative oral health workforce models to include oral health care in universal health coverage (UHC). The resolution also recommended a shift from a traditional curative model towards a more preventive approach which includes the promotion of oral health within families, schools and workplaces.
