Remembering Dentistry Leaders Dr. Terry S. Kline Dr. Kline passed away on May 4, 2022, at age 90. D r. Kline was a certified specialist in prosthodontics in British Columbia who graduated in dentistry from the University of Alberta in 1955. He had a very successful practice in Vancouver and was a valued member of the University of British Columbia (UBC) dental faculty for over 45 years, inspiring many generations of new dentists in Canada. He began teaching at the UBC dental clinic in 1969, in the division of periodontics. In 1980, he was among the first group of dentists certified by the College of Dental Surgeons of BC (CDSBC) as a specialist in prosthodontics and he continued teaching at UBC as a prosthodontist. Dr. Kline was very highly respected by his patients in his private practice but, above all, he loved teaching and engaging with students and staff in the UBC faculty of dentistry. Indeed, he got most enjoyment from his time in the clinic with the dental students who appreciated him for his depth of knowledge, his clinical skills and his empathy towards patients. He was happy to be part of their progress and education as he encouraged them to meet a high standard of clinical excellence and to continue their education after graduation. Dr. Kline’s professional career included many recognitions and honours including as a fellow of the International College of Dentists and American College of Dentists and a member of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. He was also an active member of the CDSBC, Canadian and B.C. Societies of Prosthodontists, BCDA, Sigma Alpha Mu and Alpha Omega. Dr. Kline knew how to balance his successful dental career with fun leisure activities, including skiing at Whistler, boating, fishing, golfing and travelling the world. He is survived by his wife Carol, children Sandy and Ronnie (Ruth Buckwold) and grandchildren Myim, Adina, Adam and Zevi, for whom he was a true inspiration.
