CDA also used this year’s Days on the Hill meetings to highlight the oral health challenges faced by seniors living in long-term care (LTC) facilities. CDA has been recommending increased oral health standards at LTC facilities, including that an oral health assessment be conducted at admission by an appropriately trained and licensed health professional. These standards could be further strengthened through a daily preventative oral care plan and ensuring LTC facilities have the appropriate infrastructure, equipment, and tools to enable routine, basic dental treatment to be delivered on site.
