TheTrailblazer Dr. Lynn Tomkins New CDA President Dr. Lynn Tomkins has deeply considered what matters most to dentistry. She cares about environmental sustainability, robust dental education, creating a profession that offers equity, inclusivity and diversity, and providing all Canadians with access to care. “There has been a lot of change in our lives over the past few years,” Dr. Tomkins says. “The pandemic has made our core values clearer to us. And the federal government’s promise to provide funding to support the oral health of Canadians is an opportunity, as a profession, to significantly move the dial on some of our broader goals.” Throughout Dr. Tomkins’ 40-year career, she’s grappled with these ideas in her clinical work, her teaching, and her involvement in organized dentistry.
