Starting a Dental Career During COVID-19 In late April, several experienced dentists answered questioned posed by dental students about the challenges of starting a dental career in a world that includes COVID-19. The Federation of Canadian Dental Student Associations (FCDSA) organized the online event, which was moderated by Dr. John O’Keefe, CDA director of Knowledge Networks. Dr. Natalie Pollock (DMD2020) and StephanieWiseman (DMD2021), boardmembers of the FCDSA representing McGill University’s faculty of dentistry, collected questions from other dental students. Panelists: Dr. Bernie Dolansky (BD) is past-president of CDA and the Ontario Dental Association (ODA), and is now senior national partner at a brokerage for dental practices. Dr. Patti-Anne Jones (PAJ) is a dentist, an MBA, and was co-director of Member Services of the BC Dental Association when this session was recorded. Dr. Jonathan Mahn (JM) co-owns and operates a group practice in Southwestern Ontario. He is chair of ODA’s Membership Services and Programs Committee.
