21 Issue 3 | 2019 | N ews and E vents A 1981 graduate of UBC, Dr. Hacker practised general dentistry in Vancouver. In the last 8 years, he transitioned into a full- time position at the CDSBC. His roles have included Complaint Investigator, Policy and Practice Advisor, Deputy Registrar responsible for complaints and for the last 11 months, Acting Registrar. “The Board is most appreciative of the leadership and dedicated service Chris has provided as Acting Registrar,” said Dr. Peter Lobb, CDSBC president and Board chair. “The Board also wishes to acknowledge the dedicated and hard- working College staff, who have worked with and supported Chris and the Board in our journey toward improving health outcomes for the public, strengthening relationships with stakeholders, adopting leading regulatory practices and ensuring stronger governance practices.” Dr. Hacker brings an in-depth knowledge of the CDSBC core functions of registration, practice standards, and complaints and discipline. He has overseen the development of the CDSBC 2019–22 Strategic Plan, which reflects a commitment to improved health outcomes for the public. Dr. Hacker has developed and delivered several courses and lectures at dental component societies and for UBC Dentistry students.
