11 Issue 4 | 2018 | CDA at W ork TASK FORCE PRESENTS REPORT ON THE FUTURE OF THE PROFESSION D r. Alastair Nicoll, Chair of the Task Force and CDA past-president (2015–16), presented the report and its recommendations to an audience of representatives from major dental organiza- tions in Canada, including the provincial dental associations, dental regulatory authorities, and dental specialties. The goal of the dis- cussions was to give attendees the opportunity to offer their initial feed- back on the Task Force’s recommendations. Dr. Mitch Taillon, CDA president, says the Task Force report is a call to action for Canadian dentists. “Changing disease patterns, innovative technologies and evolving societal expectations, combined with new practice models and changing health human resources trends, are transforming dentistry,” he says. “The profession needs to navigate these new realities if we are to meet our goal of providing optimal oral health care to all Canadians. The report is the starting point for the profession to collectively prioritize key issues and develop action plans to ensure that dentistry remains a valuable and rewarding profession,” adds Dr. Taillon. InApril, the CDATask Force on the Future of the Profession unveiled a report that identifies priorities and strategies for addressing emerging challenges facing dentistry over the next 15 years and beyond. The report, CanadianDentistry 2032 , was the focus of the 2018Dentistry Leaders Forum (DLF) held inOttawa.
