Dr. Gilles Lavigne is a world leader in research on sleep bruxism, sleep apnea, and sleep and pain interaction. He was recently appointed Canada Research Chair (tier 1) in Pain, Sleep and Trauma.

Dr. Lavigne is pictured on the cover at his sleep laboratory based at Sacré-Coeur Hospital in Montreal. He is the director of the trauma research unit at the hospital and is the newly appointed chair of the Canadian Dental Association's Committee on Dental Academia.

Dr. Lavigne is one of the oral health researchers interviewed for one of this month's special features on the state of oral health research in Canada.
