Cover Artist: Dr. J.W. (Bill) BlairDr. J.W. (Bill) Blair received his DDS in 1969 from the University of Alberta, and has been in private practice in Calgary since then. He is a past president of the Alberta Dental Association, and was an Executive Council member of CDA until August 2001.Dr. Blair's interest in woodcarving started 15 years ago as a way to relax and a change from dentistry. He hopes it will provide him with a hobby in retirement. Dr. Blair has been teaching woodcarving part-time since 1997. The carving entitled Upland Grizzly is done in Bass wood and finished with acrylic paints. The carving is an expression of Dr. Blair's fascination with this powerful and fearsome woodland creature.
