Cover Artist: Dr. Rolland T. LambThe cover art for the November JCDA is a creation by the late Dr. Rolland T. Lamb, photographed by Dr. Fredrick Muroff of Montreal.Dr. Lamb, who passed away in 1998, was acknowledged as one of the finest restorative dentists and teachers in Canada for more than 40 years, until his retirement in 1989. Dr. Lamb's prowess as a carver was legendary, as evidenced by this month's cover art — a whalebone carving with inlaid bone face and salmon. The whalebone was found on a beach near Dr. Lamb's summer home in Percé, Quebec. Although an avid collector of Eskimo art, Dr. Lamb spent hours at the Canadian Guild of Crafts in Montreal, studying the inventory of Eskimo carvings in preparation for this effort. Dr. Lamb produced this work of art for Dr. Muroff, in appreciation for his having organized and hosted a retirement dinner in Dr. Lamb's honour.
