DENTAL DIGEST T he donation, announced at the end of 2020, will help fund a new two-chair dental clinic at the University of Toronto’s (U of T) faculty of dentistry in downtown Toronto. The clinic will provide no-cost dental care to low-income families and function as the site of the One Smile research program. Dr. Carlos Quiñonez, associate professor and director of the graduate specialty program in dental public health at the faculty of dentistry, has assembled a multidisciplinary team of experts to conduct the research program. Families admitted into the program—about 1,500 to 2,000 people—will take part in a multi-layered study that will continuously assess their oral health, overall health, pain levels, as well as social factors such as life satisfaction, employability and others, over the course of 5 years.
