Only the third orthodontist in the city, Bob was respected in the dental community for his professionalism, work ethic, and sense of humour. Dr. Perry served as president of the Calgary Dental Society in 1972 and was a councillor and examiner with the Royal College of Dentists for much of his career. Dr. Perry is survived by his wife of 65 years, Patricia; and their children, Susan, Richard and Pamela. a Dr. Gerald Turner of Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, passed away on April 27, 2019, at the age of 82. Dr. Turner studied dentistry at Dalhousie University where he graduated in 1960. He practised dentistry in Glace Bay for 49 years; the last 33 years alongside his dedicated assistant Kathy (Pyke) Riley. He retired from dentistry in 2009. During his career, Gerald served as president of the Cape Breton Island Dental Society as well as the Nova Scotia Dental Association. He and a dental colleague were instrumental in setting up and maintaining a dental clinic at Seaview Manor in Glace Bay. Dr. Turner is survived by his wife of 53 years, Beverley; and their children, Michele, Glenn and Dale. a REMEMBERING DENTISTRY LEADERS Dr. Gordon Anthony of St. John’s, Newfoundland, passed away on June 8, 2019, at the age of 82. Born and raised in Newfoundland, Gordon attended Memorial University and Dalhousie University, where he graduated in 1959 from the faculty of dentistry. Dr. Anthony practised dentistry in Corner Brook and St. John’s until he retired in 1998. He was proud to be a dentist and served the profession through his participation on both provincial and national boards. Dr. Anthony served as the representative for Newfoundland on the CDA Board of Governors from 1983–1987 and was awarded a CDA Certificate of Merit in 1988. He was also a member of the CDSPI Board of Directors from 1980–1987 and was the Atlantic Canada representative on CDSPI’s Council on Insurance and Investments. Dr. Anthony is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sylvia; and their children Lynne, Gaye, Greg, Doug and Karen. a Dr. Robert Perry of Calgary, Alberta, passed away on December 22, 2018, at the age of 89. Dr. Perry attended the University of Alberta and completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1953. He went on to earn his MSc in Orthodontics at the University of Toronto in DR. GERALD TURNER DR.
